Update:
I returned to Magnolia Smokehouse to give it a second chance after I saw a sign out front saying it was under new management. Who knows what really changed but it was enough to get me in the door.
We got ribs, pulled pork, brisket, smoked turkey, collared greens, mac and cheese, and pit beans. Service was good, but our entrees were sitting out waiting for sides for a long time before our waiter decided to just bring them over anyway. Sides came later. He did his best to smooth things over with a smile and a joke but c'mon kitchen. Don't hang him out to dry like that. It wasn't busy.
Everything we ordered was available (!!), it came out hot, and was pretty good! The ribs were the star of the show. I'd come back for them. Highest praise. Great thick bark, VERY tasty. Pulled pork and brisket were good. I could have used more flavor but I think they were just overshadowed by the ribs. The smoked turkey was dry and kind of low on flavor. I would not get that again.
Collared greens were good, mac and cheese was RICH, like eating butter, beans were a bit insipid. I expect flavorful pit beans. These were ok but did not taste slow cooked.
BBQ isn't exactly a competitive space in new england but Magnolia on a second showing earned back two stars. Try the ribs.

"Remember to ask upfront if they're out of anything."
I had some friends come in from out of town and brought them Magnolia Smokfor dinner and it was the most disappointing meal we had all weekend. I was embarrassed as a host.
Service was fine but slow despite the place being relatively empty on a weekend night. We put in our orders for brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, smoked turkey, and more only for the waitress to say sorry, but they didn't have half the items. Then she came back and said sorry they didn't have the other half either.
Literally, I am not joking, literally the only item they actually had of our entire table's order was pulled pork. So everyone in the party of 6 ended up eating pulled pork with mac and cheese with whatever sides hadn't also run out (more than half of them were gone too).
For a place with a relatively compact menu to have basically none of it available was irritating and if we had been told upfront we would have gone elsewhere. I felt deceived and laughed about it with my guests, but I'd rather have eaten a good meal than bonded over a shared bad experience.
The pulled pork was nothing special. Sauces were ok. I've not been back. Other people seem to have had better experiences. Remember to ask upfront if they're out of anything. -

First time about to eat there after NEW MANAGEMENT, Been there before! Looking forward to that flaming grill in action and barbecue aroma. First impression the bartender pleasantly greeted us then sat down and waitress was very pleasant and helpful. Cutting to the Chase- food arrived very appealing look nicely arranged and visually appealing/ but
Not hot or tender what was chosen same as with our other dishes. Tasty but needed to be a hotter food temperature and think our choices were visibly appealing but lacked hot off the grill or steaming! looked liked prior cooked and just reheated. Made the food tough and chewy.
We did not want to complain to the waitress who was helpful but did not want to wait longer than we have.
For the price for what we all paid for it was not finger licking barbecue we expected. Wish them the "best",but we will pass on this place in the future. Friendly Staff but needs to focus on temperature of what is ordered.
Disappointed but enjoyed the location. -

It is very tough to find a good southern cooking place in Mass. I think this place is more suited for drinks than food. Was craving mac and cheese so i got that and was very disapointed. Not sure of the kind of cheese they use but it was a diffrent consistency than i have ever seen. The bbq steak was extremly tough and chewy and the mash potatoes were just ok.

I just wanted a beer today and a spot to sit for a bit indoors. The bar at the Smokehouse is comfortable, quiet and has the wonderful smell of the barbecue.
The young lady who poured up my bar was lovely and had a great accent.
Comfortable and cozy spot. -

Need management. New menu. Wow! If you haven't eaten at Magnolia lately, you haven't eaten here. This was perhaps the best beef rib I've had north of Texas. Brisket was great. Generous sides of coleslaw and beans were complimented the entrees. Mix and match menu allowed us to try multiple items. The 3 BBQ sauces were all unique and really delicious. Peach, traditional and a spicy jalapeño sauce. I can't wait to go back.
